What do you guys know about these? Would they be suitable for painting a tractor with enamel paint? Remember I don't want a award winning paint job, just a good looking one that won't like like I painted it with a handful of straw. :)

Never tried one, but looks expensive.

You would be better off with a Harbor Freight HPLP sprayer and a
compressor.

Do you not have a compressor? You will need one for more than painting.
That would be my first investment, then build your tools around it. Size it
according to what you will be needing in the future.

Honestly it's a long shot to find anyone here with experience with that specific sprayer. Most are going to tell you that you need a big expensive air compressor and an pneumatic HVLP paint gun to paint a tractor.

With advances in battery powered tools you don't really need a big expensive air compressor to run an impact wrench, because really, that's the main thing you're going to use it for. IMHO best to put your money into battery powered tools which are not limited by the length of your air hose.

Harbor Freight used to sell a Central Electric HVLP sprayer set that they liked over on the Farmall Cub forum. I picked one up and it's still sitting brand new in a box on a shelf in my foyer, so I can't tell you if it works.

I used to work in a factory and was the painter and we used Bliss sprayers--they were good so I bought a Bliss clone for farm use--worked good but wore it out and bought one of those Harbor Freight $9.99 EL Cheapo sprayers--Worked good until I dropped it and cracked the cup--They had no replacement so bought another one. My math is pretty good but the same sprayer went from $9.99 to $15.99--Is that 8% or a 60% increase???? East coast math!! But it works good will be a good cheap gun for you--I went on line and bought 2 spare cups for $8.00 with free shipping..Good Luck---Remember--Preparation is 90% of painting!

Paint would be the last thing you worry about. Need it back together first. If it don't run it don't need paint. If all you want id paint on it just brush it on those foam brushes will do a pretty good job with few marks if done right. Look at some of Grandpas cubs some of those I think he said he painted that way.

2 X on get it running first before painting.

Depending on your funds, maybe just spend the minimum amount of money to get it running as you will still gain all the education and pride from this project. You can always do an expensive overhaul, new tires and fancy paint anytime in the future after you are cash rich.

Most young people your age start out tearing down and reassembling a free lawn mower or lawn tractor as their first big project. You are already way ahead of that.

I have an older model 890
It works quite well, as I have sprayed enamel, latex, lacquer, stain,
all with great results. You won't be disappointed with it

I picked up an Eastwood LT 100 gun from
them for my first paint job. It uses just
4.5cfm @ 40psi. Which most consumer grade
compressors will handle. Different size
tips available for primers or paints. I
have been very happy with the results and
for just at 100 didn't break the bank.
Plus went to Harbor Freight and got
cleaner and disposable cups. Cleanup takes
about 2 minutes. Just some other options
to think about
