Location of John Deere 4.219 engine block serial number

I have a John Deere engine from a 2440 that does not have a serial number plate. Are there numbers stamped in the block somewhere? Block is numbered R55011/R55034.

Those numbers appear to be casting numbers. As far as I know the tag had the serial number, no hard stamping in the blocks.

Thanks for the reply, I have seen some photos of engines with a tag but this block doesn't have one. Neither does the old block in my Deere 400 backhoe. I bought this motor to rebuild for the 400 so it looks like I really won't find out what it actually is until I tear it apart and check the rod pin size and maybe sleave length.

Anything in these motors to avoid or watch out for?
