Stuck Differential Pedal

Jangles

New User
I recently obtained a 1976 MF 255. The tractor runs but has a stuck differential pedal. I have tried spraying it with PB Blaster and WD40 and have had no luck. Any other ideas? Thanks

While driving, alternately jam the brakes
individually....that may free it. If the
linkage is jammed internally, you may need
to lift the cover.

Assuming that you mean the differential lock pedal, you may have a pin that is rusted into the levers. When that happened to my Ford 3600, I had to remove the linkage and drill out the stuck pin, then replaced it.

No idea on the Ford but I had the
same problem with a 424
International I bought last summer.
On it there's a bracket holding the
pedal to the brake housing. Someone
had put the spacer washers on the
outside instead of the inside and
the pedal couldn't move. Moved
those to get the proper gap on the
pedal and it worked fine.

We had that same thing happen on a MF 165. I sprayed
penetrating oil on every possible part that should be
moving, and put a bar under the pedal and pried up on
the pedal, and alternately tapping down on it with a
hammer. I soon Igor a bit of movement out of it. And
just kept working at it till I had gained full travel. I think
that this usually happens because we just dont use
the diff lock often enough. And when someone jumps
down on it, it sticks

Happened on neighbor McCormick. Spray
everything that is supposed to move and
start prying and pounding. As soon as you
get a little movement it goes fast. Spray,
pound pry, repeat, repeat.
