David Brown 880, also sold as an Oliver in the US.
David Brown 880

CaseIH got into some of them too I believe. I see some lately being sold that have background as DB's by looking at them. There was a 1390 I think it was that sold recently having what looked to be a David Brown with red paint on it.

In 1972 Tenneco acquired David Browns tractor division. At the time Tenneco also owned Case. Some DB models lived on as Case or Case DB until Tenneco bought IH in 1984. In 1988 the Meltham factory closed.

A good post in the Oliver form dated 10-10-2022 by Angrykingbob has some good history on the amalgamation of the Oliver/ DB venture. The literature sited lists the DB 850 as the Oliver 500 and DB 990 as the Oliver 600.

Yes, 850 Implematic was sold as an Oliver 500, 990 Implematic as a 600. I have them all, gas and diesel 500s and a 600. The 500 gas was a hybrid. DB never sold an 850 gas, but they made an Oliver 500 gas. It was an 850 fitted with a Crop Master gas engine. The hood on those was unique to the Oliver 500 gas. It was never used on any DB or on the Oliver diesels.

I never saw a DB 880, It's new to me. There was a pretty fair number of 885s sold around here though.
