I think the Eldo would have been worse. Ground clearance was the issue here as the Blazer was getting high centred on the hard packed drifts. The Eldo is not know for it's ground clearance. Once your wheels have most of the weight off them there is not much traction at all.
 
Reminds me of my dad who launched a 1950 Chrysler on top of a huge snow drift in front of our home. He had ran out of cigarettes and thought the hugh chrome bumper on the front of the car would push the snow. Had to start a tractor and drag the car off of the drift.
 
My buddy had a 73 eldorado in about 1978. Everytime I
saw him pull up I would think of boss hog. He even had
the cigar too. That thing was all engine under the hood.
Over 500 cid I think it was.
