Help with head identifican

I found this head in a field close to my house. None of the numbers seem to match any of the automobile company's numbers. Its an Inline 6. It is very rusty but the combustion chambers are rust free and the valves are fully seated with no sighs of leakage or damage. From what I see I think it is salvageable, but what does it fit. It is from a rural area where a tractor might be more likely that a automobile.

Pictures of the complete head showing the different sides will help.

Because I am a new member I can only post 1 photo at this time.
does the 4486 X match anything? also 339505 as best I can determine. I will need to wire brush to see more.

Did you try to post another photo with the reply you
made. I am not aware of a photo number restriction
just a size. What I am seeing partly influenced by the
orange paint is that it is a Chevy or GM 6 cylinder head
for a 250 or 292 engine. Does it have an individual fine
threaded stud 3/8 inch diameter on top? Those would
be for mounting the valve rocker arms as a GM head
would have. Do you see GM cast in it anywhere? May
say made in US or Made in Mexico.

The size of your pictures may limit how many you can post at a time. There is a limit of 7.5 mb of pictures per post. That limit applies to one large picture or the total mb of several added together. Some phone pictures are too large to post more than one at a time.

At least give us the complete head photo, so we have
more to go on. Bits and pieces of a photo is like a jig saw
puzzle. It does look like a chev 250 head. I have never
seen an orange 292 engine. They were green.

Does anyone know if this Chevy I6 head has any value or should I use it as a boat anchor.

Thanks for all the help with identification.

Sorry but if I needed one, I would be looking for one off an engine that showed a better condition and needed less rehab than yours. Yours may have been removed for a reason, cracked, wrapped, etc, which you don't know about and wouldn't be found until a shop had spent some time ($) on it. I have to go with boat anchor. JMHO

(quoted from post at 04:21:22 12/10/22) Thanks everyone for responding.

Do other members agree with boat anchor?
I suppose you may not count me as another member since I have replied here already. But I agree with everything JimME said as it pertains to your treasure. Even though the amount of those engines in salvage yards has probably declined quite a bit in the last 10 -15 years they still can be found. The head that just has been pulled off a salvage engine in a yard will be in much better condition than yours. I find guys on here are funny, often they look at new posters as outsiders to a degree. Then they also read what has been posted and see that it is not a tractor part so they simply add no reply. My question is what kind of place do you live at that you find such a ..treasure.. near your home? It must not be a residential area. So final answer, boat anchor. Thanks for dropping by!
