Newholland t4020

Need some opinions I run my t4020 at idle running my woodsplitter ogg the rear remotes would running it a couple hours at a time be enough oil pressure for the engine at idle thanks

If no lights or alarms are going off on the dash all is fine as far as oil pressure goes. Since it is a turbocharged diesel I would suggest running it up more in the 1300 - 1500 rpm range just to keep a little more heat in everything. Have any hilly roads around you with minimal traffic? After you do this I would suggest you take it out on the road in the highest gear and pull the throttle wide open and get in up to full rpm, idle back down to a 1000 and repeat the wide open throttle maneuver about 10 times. Doing that on the uphills is best. I would not wear your Sunday best when doing this there will probably be a fair amount of soot coming out of the exhaust.

I agree with used red. Hours of idling is considered severe service for any motor, especially diesels. Maybe count the wood splitter hours 3 or 4 times when planning oil change interval.

I sure wish somebody could explain this to my dad with any diesel engine. He idles around with the 574 till it just smokes. Then tells me it has done that all it's life of course it has he idled it all it's life.
