I thought I heard that the T engine would not even have enough power to run the assesories on today's trucks. Could that be right?

They were rated at 20HP, but that would be new and on a good day!

That would run the AC, PS, and alternator, but not much would be left.

Sounds about right alternators take power when charging. A PTO would be out of the picture for a dump trailer or a flowboy with asphalt. I can hear the difference when I engage the PTO on the truck when the oil is cold in the winter. I'm using Hytran comparable oil in the wetline on it too. Not the heavy AW46 oil or other hydraulic oil. Truck ha s 550 Cat idling there with the hoist.

T's were used on the farm to saw wood, fill silos and many other jobs.
I can fill mine with firewood and go up the steep hill on our driveway and head down the road.
They had low engine speed with plenty of torque.
