Oh this is even better. Backhoe wood splitter

I need one for my mini excavator. Might be
a little slower than I can do it but
definitely easier on the back.heres a
picture of how I do it.

They have some similar to go on skid steers that split or you can pinch the wood and hold up to cut it up without having to work on the ground. I am in the middle of making one to hang on one fork of the Skytrac to try out for splitting big blocks like in the video. I need more length though since we burn blocks more like 3 feet long.

It is apparent that for larger pieces as you would put into an outdoor boiler that it would be the way to go.

This is how my neighbor and I solved the big log problem. We built our own log splitter. It has 2 or 4 way split, log lift,5 inch cylinder,30 inch split, 22 HP engine with electric start, hour meter, removable
hitch and hitch can be put on back to pull splitter away from wood pile.

I don't burn wood.
I made something similar to the splitter.
I made a ridged thumb to pick up logs.
The back claw has a lot of force.
It can bend the metal my claw is made of.

(quoted from post at 08:25:07 11/16/22) I really like this guys setup. Looks pretty simple to build. Split and load in one operation. It would take a lot of practice to get as good as he is. I may have to try and build one for my Deere 401C

ight be useful for the big stuff, but I'd take a 24 ton vertical any day.

. Thats the stuff I am after. Split the bigguns a couple times and use a smaller splitter to finish up. This is what I am doing right now. It kinda sucks. I also have a skid steer splitter, but a neighbor is borrowing it. If this thing works, I may just get rid of the skid steer one.

Worked with a logger years ago. Some time we would end up with a short piece of oak. The loader operator would pinch it with the grapple and split it.
He had a wood heater. Took all the work out of firewood processing.
