Injector/Carb cleaner

When you go into the auto parts store there is a whole shelf of bottles of injector/carb cleaner for Diesel engines. They often suggest using some with every tank full of fuel.
So those of you that drive the diesel truck or equipment on a regular bases do you use any additives on a regular bases?
What about for the older equipment, will any of these additives help clean injectors or other parts of the engine?

Have had diesels around here since the late 1930's have not used any additive and still don't if you buy clean fuel and keep it clean and out of the weather there is no need for it. We even get to -20 some winters most are only about 0 for a low and no problems. We have drains on the bottom of the tanks we loosen and drain any water accumulated in the tanks each fall. Buying from reputable distributors is worth more than all the snake oils. Draining off the water also helps keep algae from developing in the tank. This horse also gets beat to death about every month too.

The only preventive maintenance is run some bio before each filter change. As for theyreccomending additives, depends on who theyare.

When it comes to gas engines if you buy top tier gas you won't need Injector/Carb cleaner.
Not all gasoline is top tier. Top tier gas has more cleaners than the minimum required.

I replace the gas annually in my 2 generators which don't see a lot of use. This year the gas smelled rotten.
I'm not a fan of snake oils, I replace the old gas.
Burn the old gas in my lawn mowers.

I use a little Power Service treatment during cold weather. Back when I had four trucks running, every winter one of them would wax up when the driver skipped it too many times. Going through a wax up, waiting on the side of the road at 10 degrees with no heat tends to make the driver more conscientious, LOL. While wax is the more common problem the other is moisture which is not from the fuel pump but from the air. Keeping the tank full whenever the air is humid can minimize the moisture.
