rotary mower hydaulic fitting problem

The fitting goes in but it never 'snaps' in. Hyd. fluid squirts out passed it when I try to use the cylinder. The cly. will raise the mower but not lower. The fitting stays in when used but is loose. Is the fitting the wrong size or wore out? Just got the mower today. Can't get the fitting out either. So it's in there loose but letting fluid by when I work it & won't come off. I forget how exactly to get them off but it seems like you have to twist & jerk somehow. Been a long time since I pulled one off.

Sounds like the male tip on the mower you just got today in not compatible with the female on your tractor. Must be matching ends . Take a photo of the tip and post it or read on the tip and tell us what it says .

just looked at mower male fitting. Appears to be a very small difference in size with tractor male fittings.. My tractor ends say 7/8. Mowers fitting is rusted & pitted & appears smaller, I can't read a size tho I can read some of the lettering & numbers. Also the mower male fitting is boogered up on the end & sides somewhat. Prolly wouldn't make a difference in the right size female part.

So you probably have the newer iso couplers. Not to worry they will work with the same pioneer couplers that everybody else is using. The 7/8 is probably the threads on the coupler. there should be more infor further around the body of the female side than just the thread size.

The fitting on the mower could have been replaced with one used in industrial applications. It happened to me.

Just got a log splitter with the same problem, the guy I got it from had a Allis and I have a John Deere, I compared the ends and they are different, going to farm and Fleet today to buy the right ones.

Not a huge deal. Just replace the bad coupler with the correct one.

Take the old one off and take it to your dealer is the easiest way. The parts guy will be able to match up the hose end of the coupler and get you the correct tip and any adapters that may be necessary.

Most likely it is a JD coupler as those are very similar in size and similar looking to the standard ISO coupler.
