Hydraulic pump casting cracking

What could be the reason for pto hydraulic pump casting cracking?
It drives a flail hedge brusher
The owner had it welded but not successful
New pump now fitted at cost of 1100
I am in uk

Pictures would help but usually excessive pressure is the cause.

I was thinking if theres a problem in the line somewhere

Start by checking system operating pressure. If it broke through the ports it sounds like fatigue from repeated shock loads. Had a Abex vane motor that continuously blew the shaft seal... really, really expensive shaft seal...hydraulic shop didnt know what to do , manufacturer didnt know what to do.... I lowered the relief pressure to just a little over what it had to be to do the job, probably 2/3 of rated working pressure, and didnt have any more trouble with it.

Excessive pressure is probably because of no pressure relief valve or one set way too high.

Without seeing it impossible to know, but could have been defective material or machining, something passed through and jammed it, excessive pressure, overtightened plumbing fitting, improperly mounted...
