MF 65 3 point lift problem

Help. I was lifting my blade on the 3 point lift. Went all the way up then something popped. Blade dropped. only goes up about 3 off the ground now, no higher. I see on visual leaks. did I have a seal go bad? My front loader is working just fine so I am sure it isn't the pump. I can lift the arms by hand and if I let go, they just drop. I am willing to repair myself but need direction as to where to start. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Terry

Sounds like 2 problems,

1st problem made it go up beyond its limits.

2nd problem something broke because of the 1st problem.

Be sure to locate the 1st problem so it doesn't repeat.

You can ask on the MF board below, but also be very wise to have a shop manual in hand before going in. That top cover assembly is HEAVY, best lift it with a cherry picker or hoist. The bottom end of the cover is fragile and other things must be removed before lifting it!

Thanks. I know it has drifted down slowly when it is not being used. That may just be normal. There was a definite pop when it came up. I just bought a Massey Ferguson 65 Tractor Service Manual (IT Shop). Is there another one I need to get. I leafed through it and it seemed pretty generic and not really a step by step for repair manual.

The IT should cover the lift.

IT manuals are more for the seasoned mechanic, straight and to the point.

There are other manuals, factory manual would probably be more detailed but more expensive, and they always assume you have every special took available, which only a dealer shop would have.

Might find a used one on Ebay. Beware of the copies and download versions, they are often poor quality. The 'We Have Manuals For Everything' site is a scam and will infect your computer!
