Re Roosamaster pump. (Dieseltech)

Hi Dieseltech. I ran my G707 and worked it to get it up to operating temperature and it started after 3 to 4 second of cranking. Tried it at several positions of the throttle lever with the same results. If it is the plunger that is stuck like you suggested is that difficult to do or easy to do. Obviously the pump will have to come off. Thank you for your expertise so far.

i dont know about your pump .but those engines start as soon as you hit the starter as pretty much with any diesel. its just a touch of the starter like one second. BUT it must be timed correctly have u verified that? the pump could be only gummed up.

Hey rustred. Hope your harvest went well. The injection pump on my 707 was rebuilt 10 or so hours ago and is clean. Its definitely timed right. It appears to be starving for fuel but so far everything seems to be checking out okay.

hello there, yes i just finished it up on the weekend. with my big red massey 850 ,lol. the only red combine around here, well acually the only old red one. mostly new holland and case ih. i cant post pic's yet but i do have some good ones. what u mean starving for fuel. does it have power under load?

If one of the two rotor plungers is stuck, USUALLY the hydraulic head assembly will need replaced. Trouble could also be a worn cam ring/shoes/rollers. When the cam lobes start to wear the plunger STROKE is less than needed for full load fuel delivery. A loose delivery valve stop screw could also cause fuel loss of delivery. Only way to know for sure is to tear the pump down again.

Okay Dieseltech. That will have to be a winter time job for sure. I can do a lot of things mechanical but this one may go to the pros. Thanks so much for your help. I will try to remember to post what is found wrong with the injection pump.

Not the power it had when I first bought the tractor. And no smoke at all. I only use the tractor for demo pulls at vintage tractor pulls because of the smoke and noise show it puts on. Ill get it fixed this winter.

them minnies and masseys with that engine dont do all that well at the pulls i have seen. low gear is geared too fast. but they are a good field tractor. i had a 97 and liked it. and started easily in summer no starting fluid.

They are good field tractors. My dad and I when I was much younger farmed with a super 95 and a regular 95. Put many hours on them. As for their pulling ability a friend of mine who I met through local vintage tractor pulls has a super 95 that he takes to some pulls and he has taken several first place and second place prizes home with it. I now own two super 95s and waiting to hear on two more that may be available.
