Looks like I need a new control valve on my loader

The bucket dump control has gotten to where it is next to impossible to dump the bucket. You push it into the dump position and it doesn't go all the way there and if it dumps at all it does so very slowly. Baled the hay I had cut today just in time and put in the hay barn but having problems with the control valve sure didn't help like to never got the bale put in the mini horse area due to dump problems.

Not sure where to look for a new one. Northern or surplus supply

It could just need servicing. Maybe contaminated or an o-ring is tearing and sticking.

Hey Rich. Sorry to hear about your your bucket control valve. If push comes to shove you may have to purchase ( even used) a whole new controller valve block if the price is right. Hey I got a question. Not counting the non necessary equipment ( junk ) in the hay stacking area. How many bales (what size) can you have covered in your barn or barns? Thank you you ole swobbie. I do 5X6 bales out of a NH850 chain baler and I can store around 100 bales in my hay barn if I stack them right but this control valve is making that hard to do since I need to be able to lift the bales and level them out as they get higher on the pile. If I can do it right I can get 10 bales per row and 10 rows but the last couple rows get harder to do

i would look at the connection between the spool and handle where the bolt/pin goes through. could be worn oversize or bolt worn and not allowing full travel on the spool. good luck

That is a STRANGE failure mode for a spool valve.

Might be some tore up packing from the cylinder(s) jamming it or clogging a passage.

Got a photo or some number to identify it?

If your loader has 2 hydraulic cylinders to work the dump you could have one cylinder that is bypassing internally, if one is bypassing the cylinders will fight each other. A easy test is to unhook one cylinder from the bucket, and see if it works different. Here is another way to test to see if the cylinder itself is bypassing internally https://youtu.be/qtgIyKyPIIw

The control if self will not move to a full position and is hard to move to the dump position but the other direction it moves easy like it should

Most spool valves have a cap on the opposite end of the control lever, either the spring that is in there broke, or the bolt retaining it has loosened up. You should be able to take the cap off (circled in red) without anything coming loose, and see what the problem is.
