A little early for fire wood

Since I can't cut wood on my land, I depend on others. I watch for free wood advertised on craigs list. As hot as it is now I can't wait for winter, hoping to find dried wood. I got a load in in my pickup a couple days ago, and dumped it at my place. I have to cut it to size, but can do it later. I have a good pile of wood now, but don't know if it will be completely dry by winter. How's your wood supply? Stan

I got a bunch of oak that was dropped a little more than a year ago. Come and get it! I don't heat with wood, so don't use it. Can't seem to give it away here.

I have a load of split black locust on my wood wagon and more logs on the ground to cut up and split for the house.
Wind took them down last Christmas.
Got a bunch of oak from the 2020 tornado still to split for the shop.
Supposed to cool down Friday into the 70's for a while.
Gonna get at it then.

Never too early. I have 5 pallets 3x3x3 loaded and under cover. The pallet allows me to bring up a lot of wood with the tractor. I've got several more loads split and ready but haven't built the pallet sides yet. Ash, oak, poplar, and locust.

I've got a number of dead trees in my river area that weren't there last year. Disease, bugs, and beavers take their toll. I mark them with paint and start cutting them up after it cools. I use a 300 Case with forks on the 3 point to carry the logs to a staging area. There I stack log cuts, 16 or less, on end on pallets. Wood furnace door is 17 so I don't split except if they're bigger and then it's with a chain saw.

Have enough cut here in southwest Missouri on nine acres been cleaning up. Will start bringing it up to the house in October and covering it up.

I have some logs that have been laying here for two years. People say they want them but never come and get them. When I ask they say they haven't had time to get them. I say if you don't have time to get them you don't have time to burn them.

2+ years worth of mostly ash piled in the wood shed. I try to keep 2 years supply always so that the stuff I burn this fall went into the shed 2 years ago (Spring of 2021). I am trying to harvest all the ash I can before it gets dead and too dangerous to fell.

We have plenty for ourselves, but we spend the 5 coldest months in Arizona. We have had fires in both wood stoves already, at the house and cabin, but it was pretty warm today. We have woodshed for us that holds about 4 cords, it's full, some has been in there 5 years. I have sold a couple of cords, and only have about 2 more to sell. I have about 4 cords to sell next year. We have so much blowdown ash, I can't keep up processing it.

I'm screwed on the firewood front. Used up every stick I had cut and then some last year, way more than usual and it wasn't the typical dozey stuff that Dad burned.

So I've got almost no dry wood to burn.

Everything I'm burning this winter is what I cut since spring. Some of it's deadfall that's been laying a couple of years, so I'm hoping its not too bad.
