Bouncing trailer update

Picked up the flatbed from the tire man this morning. New tires fixed the bouncing. Its really strange how the symptoms showed up at the same time as a new truck

As I was looking over the old tires (hoping to keep for wagons) I noticed bulges / bubbles on the inside of at least two tires. The plies were all trying to separate pretty scary to think about I guess the tire age rule isnt just a money grab.

The age expiration is relatively new.

Tires used to last much longer.

I suspect it's something they have omitted from the process, or added to cause them to degrade.

This is an 11 year old tire.

It caused a lot of bouncing at all speeds.

I purchased new tires, had them balanced.
Trailer stills gets to bouncing around 35-45 when empty.

I bought the trailer new in 2011. It bounced then.

After buying 4 new tires, I've used the trailer 2x in past 1.5 years.

Glad you figured it out. I for one never thought it was your truck. I had the same issue, ended up being trailer tires also.

When I bought my trailer a few years ago, I encountered a similar problem. I put all new rims and tires on mine. Problem solved. Glad to read yours was fixed also. Kow Farmer

kinda surprised people dont check the tires on trailers before leaving the yard. anytime i hook onto my trailer it a a walk around and tire inspection. the goose eggs just dont appear all at once.

I have had more than one tire shop try to tell me trailer tires don't need to be balanced.

I call bull!

Trailer tire balance is important for the life of the tire and trailer suspension system!

Call bull all you want but its the truth. They're trying to save you some money.

Tire balancing is primarily for rider comfort. Since nobody is riding in the trailer (or supposed to be), rider comfort is not a concern. A little vibration won't hurt anything.

If the tires are so badly out of balance that they're shaking the trailer apart, there is something wrong with the tire (or rim) that a few lead weights is not going to cure.

But, it's your $40 should you choose to spend it.

I needed a bunch of used tires for a backstop to my target range. Local tire dealer told me to take whatever I wanted from his discard pile. 2 of those tires looked brand new. Some kind of Chinese brand, and marked "for trailer use only". Closer inspection revealed just why they were in the discard pile. Those tires were NOT round. Not even close. NOT mounted on rims, and no air in them, so out of round they wouldn't even roll across the ground.
