International 500C won t push

So I just bought an international 500c everything worked when I bought it but I wasn t able to really use it because there was nothing I could push or dig with it where the crawler was located.

As soon as I got it home and started using it it would push in forward under a decent load but no where near what I ve seen the same machine do when operating properly. The motor never bogs and the engine never over revs just stays the same rpm you put it at ie full throttle, half throttle etc. I have the owners Manuel and the old man who owned it kept good notes on what and when he replaced things. The steering clutches and brakes work great but I looked at the manual and best I can figure is that the reverser clutch packs are in need of replacing and or the engine clutch. Does anyone have any idea if there is something else I can check before I rip this apart. I ve drained the transmission oil as per owners manual and replaced the filters. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

The 500C is a tourqe converter drive with a 3 speed gear box, they push best in low and with the engine at full throttle. I had one for several
years and they are a great little finish dozer but can do bigger work but at a slower pace than a larger machine. Some of the problems I have
had over the years were a suction line hose came loose causing intermittent drive problem, the converter cracked and caused the symptoms
you described, and had a lot of trouble with the steering clutches rusting together over the winter or long summer non use.

Thanks for the info! The breaks/steering clutches were fixed not to many years ago and I live in texas and have plenty of work for this little machine I just need it to do it s job no more no less.

Did you have any issues finding a new torque converter for it? If so where did you get a new one or did you get a new one? Also where was the auction line your talking about? I have the Manuel but it has three different machines it talks about and I have trouble locating parts lines so on but now that I know it s the torque converter model that will help a bunch. Thanks !

The suction line as I remember is on the left side under the platform, mine was a rubber line hooked to a metal pipe at the trans end where it
came loose. The converter I had welded at a place that rebuilt them in Indianapolis IN , it is no longer there but there was a place in Kansas
City MO a few years ago that rebuilt one from a wheel loader for me but I cant remember the name of the company . If the converter is
leaking it will leave puddles or spots but if the belly pan is full of dirt it may not hit the ground or it m any run out in a place not under the
converter making you think it is leaking from another place . I put 2 seals in mine before I found that it was the converter leaking and not the
seal on the converter

So mine does have a pretty severe leak that I noticed when I brought it home and parked it. It was draining out the back but after removing the deck and cleaning around the transmission and belly pan as much as I could I realized it s coming from somewhere up in the area of the converter or transmission. But the transmission looks good I puked it apart guess I gotta pull the motor and torque converter. Thanks for all the help. It s amazing how few mechanics don t want to work on anything unless you can plug a computer into it and it just tell you what it is!!!! Thanks again!
