I am a John Deere guy but I am working on a friends Ford tractor and I have no idea what model it is, I searched google but the area on the transmission where google says the model and sn info should be is blank.
How do I figure out what it is Im working on?

I may be wrong but I think you need to look in the same area on the other side of the tractor. If it is the same on the hundred series tractors that is where it will be. May be full of paint.

The tin would indicate the tractor is an April 1968 - 1975 model year (no side louvers, and a grill that it is still two pieces, but looks a bit like one piece). The folks down on the Ford forum could likely tell you more (especially with some more detailed photos).

Does it have a foil sticker on the underside of the hood? If it does, post those numbers and someone will decode them for you.

No sticker under the hood, I dont even know what size tractor iit is, I cant see the transmission edge on the left side without removing the starter.

With all that yellow paint, no sticker under the hood, I doubt that tractor could be identified with any real accuracy. Best you can do is use the number on the clutch housing for power train parts, everything else will be more or less educated guess.

Its a ford 2000 or 3000( (maybe a 4000su).. the numbers on the block will tell us which. the lack of numbers on the flat spot on the transmission usually means that a replacement trans was installed. look on side of engine block for a c5nn6015x like number or a c7nn6015x number to tell us which engine is in it.

You should be looking on the right side of the tractor on the flat there. It looks like you're looking on the left side in the picture if I'm seeing right.

On my tractor the engine data is stamped on the flange at the front
of the engine. Date of manufacture and size.

Tractor is a 2000 or 3000 model, front axle radius arm location indicates it was built 8/70-75
Photo of the lift control area to see if it has a flow control knob would confirm which model it is, 2000 never had flow control
Also a Sims inline injection pump would confirm it to be a 3000 model
