I had a friend years ago who owned a machine shop. He told me if you want to spend the money, China can make a lathe or milling machine which is the equivalent of anything on the planet. BUT you have to pay the extra dollars. Pretty simple explanation for it all really. I'm sure their nuclear bombs and missiles are as good as anyone's.

Probably one of those designed or
assembled in the US with Chinese parts.
Everyone needs to watch out for the trick
of using the US flag on packaging. It is
not against the law to use the flag
however they just can't say Made in the
USA. So if you see just the flag don't get
excited.

Maybe the box, or just the label, was made in the USA.......

I see JD is almost totally china chain too these days. As you say, it is the way of things, good or bad, if we stand in the way of progress we just get run down.

Tsubaki (Japan) and Diamond used to be some of the best quality roller chains available.

Did you pay for a premium quality chain or did you buy the good enough quality chain?

Most likely, AGCO's contractor may have cut a big Roll of china chain in his USA plant, thus "making it" in USA.

Is the complaint about the potential quality or the fact that t's imported? If quality is what you're afraid of, it just depends on
what quality AGCO ordered. Not everything they make over there is junk. It's just that most American companies order their worst
products so they can sell them cheap (or make more profit).

The complaint is that the box says "Made in USA" and the item inside says "Made in China."

Pretty sure that is ILLEGAL as he**, not to mention misleading. Whether it was intentional, or a mistake, we'll probably never know.

The parts guy/gal at the dealership will likely just stare blankly at you if you take it back and complain. They didn't do it and they can't do anything about it, so please if you take it back to complain, go easy on them. Ask for the manager or owner, though even they won't be able to do anything about it.

You can report it to your Attorney General's office but they're so swamped with cases it will likely be years, if ever, before they look into it.

If you really want to do something about it, you'll need a lawyer and a few million dollars. Bring a lawsuit against Agco.

I remember my 6th grade teacher wanting to make a bet that the first sentence in the unit on Mexico in our geography book refers to
The United States of Mexico. He claimed that's the real name for the country of Mexico. The label doesn't say USA, it says United
States. Maybe China is referring to themselves as United States of China now? Same way that North Korea is actually the Democratic
People's Republic of Korea.

I'll agree, it's wrong to make that claim on the box, but at the same time people are taken in by such claims all the time without
thinking it through. Just like the TV ad running for a wheeled walker that claims it was ''designed and patented in America''.
Nothing about where it was manufactured. Even then, where in America? North America? Central America? South America? Some people
just go blind when they see the flag and don't even stop to ask questions.

If you want to see made in USA on something, strip
down a Kawasaki industrial motor. They are like
Cummins used to be. Made in USA on every
casting.

Lets not forget, at least in Canada, free enterprise left Canada so as the Stock holders of the companies and CEO's
could pocket huge profits!

Out of Nation Postsecondary students flocked to our institutions of higher learning, then head back to their birth nations and turn technology back at us.
We are nothing but fools, and our elected politicians are criminals.

Yup, guy was having them make water pumps, the old cistern style. They'd order 500 and have to send 400 of them back. He finally went to China and talked with the guy making the items. Says it took a while through an interpreter, but suddenly the light bulb came on over the Chinese guys head and he says something to the effect of, "Oh!!! You only want the GOOD ONES!!!!" After that, no problem. They'll make it as cheap as they can as long as thats what we'll buy.
