Yellow project #1 the 301A Scrap Pile. When I removed the engine, the inside of the bell housing was very clean and dry. Since this thing had a reversal and the fact that the clutch rod was broken and just hanging I hoped that the clutch packs had been replaced before the engine was sabotaged. I also hoped the injection pump was still ok so I installed it when assembling the engine back together. For those not familiar with John Deere engines, you have to use a ruler or straight edge to line up the timing gears on cam and injection pump. Well, the injection pump wouldnt pressure up. I had BIL pull the 301A around the lot trying to pull start it. Still no white smoke. So now I am going to have to pull the injection pump back out. With tractor together it is a tight fit in front of timing cover to get the injection pump pushed out. So I have to build myself an extractor out of scrap metal. Here is a picture of it.
