I had posted earlier about potentially using a power steering pump on my MH 30 to lift a plow-- now I see that someone nearby has the pump and controls for a fisher plow off a truck for sale cheap. That would work just as well wouldn't?

Yes it will work. I used my 4x4 to pull implements, and used the snow plow pump with hoses running to the back of the truck with quick couplers. A little slow, but it worked.

I knew a fellow who had a bottle jack mounted between the seats of his IH Scout. His Scout had just a cab, so he built a little plywood cab on the back of it for his two little kids to ride in. Their feet must have gotten cold.

A snowplow pump can work. Just make sure it has adequate oil capacity to completely extend the plow cylinder.

Also you will need ROBUST 12 volt electrics on your tractor. 6 volts won't run an electric pump. You will need 12 volts and the highest output alternator (like 55 or 61 amps) that will fit.

I think the work and hassle of changing contacts or switches will soon out weigh the cost of cheap. The belt driven pump will be around long after the electrical nightmare will begin and end. It will be a bit more work to put on but you will be happier in the end.

I used a 12v pallet jack pump, which is just like a plow pump, to run a Meyers snow plow on an Allis G for years.

Oil capacity required of pump reservoir will be determined by whether cylinders are single or double acting. My electric over hyd rd bale spears
on my flatbed have 2 long double acting cylinders that act as reservoirs. My actual hyd unit reservoir has about a 1 gallon capacity.
