My tractor has a coil that says with external resister only and it has a resister block well its bad and I had bought a RUC15 coil a long time ago can I replace the old coil with the RUC15 and if so do I connect the two wires together at the resister block however I read the the RUC15 coil dosent have a internal resister it has extra windings for resistance and it is filled with oil. so if I use the RUC15 coil and leave rhe resister block intact wont that decrease the voltage to the coil.

ny resistor you use will reduce coil current & voltage. Is it needed? That depends on the specifications of your Rcu15 coil, which you did not provide, so I can not address.

maybe I confused the issue the coil i have on the tractor is bad and it says use only with an external resistor.i bought a coil a long time ago its a RUC15 coil and was wondering if I could use that coil on my tractor.

its not working the coil on the tractor is bad. I had bought the RUC15 coil a long time ago and wondered if I could use it its a 12v coil with an internal resistance of 3.5 ohms

Yes. You should be able to delete the external resistor. Simplest way is to remove the two wires on it and splice them together. Better to replace those two wires with one continous wire and not have to worry about a splice.

Are all the punctuation features on your computer key board bad too ? I wont even try to understand a
sentence that is half a page long.

Sadly it seems this site is where the folks who are off their meds hang out. Not sure how everyone can get along at a tractor show, yet they log on here and want to pick a fight right off the bat.

so the RUC15 didn't work there was 12.38 v going to the coil no blue spark so I went to O'Reilly and bought a coil that says use only with an external resister,so ill keep ya posted.

hey Steve I just need to bite my toung for going on about that coil.it wasn't the coil, the key switch was shorted probably to ground.bc I went to turn the distributer to time the tractor I got shocked.that explains when I would shut the tractor off,it would keep running a little bit.i found another coil that said use with external resister so I used the ballast resister block with the coil.i put new points, plugs, condenser, rotor, distributer cap and timed the tractor, and it runs better than it ever has.the distributer cap they had on the tractor, they put two o-rings on the bottom where it sets on the distributer to raise it high enough so the rotor would fire on each electrode.totally the wrong distributer cap for that tractor.i just thought you might get a good laugh about what some people might try and Jerry rig things.
