F12 runs again

With tractor shows the next 2 weekends, I thought maybe I would try to get my F12 running. it's been sleeping in the shed for the last 10-12 years, after it got balky about starting. I found that the points weren't opening, and then that the gas wasn't getting to the fuel pump. Now its ready for a bath. Tractor has electric start, foot brakes, and live hydraulics. I asked the PO what Massey tractor the loader came from when he got it for the F12. He said JD 50. We are nothing if not frugal around here.

That's a cool old Farmall. Funny you posted this, there is an F12 for sale local, ad says needs fuel pump rebuilt, I thought it was a mistake, fuel pump??? But now I gotta believe it! Lol
 
F12 and F14 had downdraft carbs above the valve cover, fuel pump down by frame rail. Not my favorite design, but whatever.

I think you need one.

Be forewarned, top speed is 3 3/4 mph. Really sucks in a parade. BTDT. Once. There was an aftermarket kit to make it go faster. If you can find one. $$$$.
 

Ditto on the slow speed. Growing up my grandpa had one with a sprayer on it. If he went anywhere with it, even to the farm next door (which he also ran), they hooked another (faster) tractor to it and pulled it over there.

My cousin still has the tractor, although it might be coming up for sale.
