I changed the oil on a ford 4600 I bought a few weeks ago and I took the bottom of the air filter off and it was full of milky oil. What would cause the water in there. What is the best way to clean that filter.

Its called condensation. Clean up cup and refill. Would let it drip over nite to get some of old oil out. Really wont hurt anything. Had my 5000 do that, changed oil and went on.

If you're that worried about it pull the air cleaner off and wash it out in some solvent or purple power or whatever your personal degreaser is then recoat with some engine oil right away to keep it from rusting the wire mesh in it. will work fine than and no milky oil in there. Never saw one with that much water in it unless they never changed the oil in it.

Snow... or condensation... or a hole in the breather pipe. Assuming it hasn't been changed in some time. Dump it, wash the cup in solvent, refill to line with engine oil and forget about it. It's doing it's job.

I found a lot of water in the bottom of my oil filter because I had taken it to the car wash numerous times, and got her REALLY clean. I stopped doing that.
