Todays picture is from the inside of a tower. The Lantern Tower at Ely Cathedral, known as the Ship of the Fens, as it is built on an Island in the middle of flat peat ex-marshland. Some of the most productive land in England. Area is surrounded by large vegetable farmers who produce Lettice, Potatoes, Parsnips and flowering bulbs.

Ely is also the home to a range of harvesting machinery manufactures like Standen Engineering, potato and cultivation equipment and Team Sprayers who make a variety of sprayers for farm and recreation businesses.

You may have seen the Fred Dibnah program where he climbed the tower and inspected the tree trunk winch that was used to haul the beams into place in the 1100's when the tower was built and is still in the dome.

My sister and brother-in-law lived not too far away for a while. Caught the train at Ely, though I didn't visit the Cathedral. Looks beautiful.

Should I assume you're talking about Ely MN, close on the Canadian border and bordering the west side of the Boundary Water canoe only area of the NE corner of the state? Larry
