O.T. Ford F600 Brakes

If you can direct me to an antique/vintage site for medium-size trucks, Thanks! If not, here's my puzzle. I have a 1970 Ford Truck (F 600) with a 330 v8 engine in it. I'd like to use this old truck to pull my trailer hauling an old antique tractor to a show or pull, etc. once inawhile. I know its not a powerful engine, but when I push hard on the brake pedal the engine labors and sometimes dies. Why? Thanks for the info/ideas. kelly

The hoses going to the vacuum booster can separate and collapse on the inside. Visual inspection they look perfect. Replace them weather they need it or not. That had me stumped on mine for a long time.

Lots of folk on there with your type truck

As other have said it sounds like a booster issue, I haven't mess with one of those in years, once you go air brakes you'll never go back to hydraulic brakes

My 75 F 600 recently did this and the brake booster was faulty, especially if while braking you get a rock hard pedal, but limited stopping power. I had to send mine off to get it rebuilt as there were none to be had in ANY auto chains locally. Ymmv. Hope you have better luck finding one than I did. It's getting hard to source parts for this era trucks.
