JD 6420 air seat

Hi,
Wondering if you can tell me the replacement part number for a seat on JD 6420. Also if you have a good/cheaper place to purchase. It is an air suspense seat which brings up another question. It is not suspended, sounds like motor is running but not pumping up etc. Maybe if you could give me some starting points on what to look for etc.

If you can hear it running, it may be as simple as a cracked/broken hose. Remove the seat so you can get at the air ride mechanism and see what the problem is. If you
need the whole new mechanism, it's a Grammar MSG85

I was given an electric wheelchair. The electronics in the
wheelchair were fried and not worth fixing.
It has an awesome seat with armrests.

Been thinking about putting it on my terramite that the original
seat fell apart. I'm currently using a metal pan seat off my
Jubilee.

You might check out Amazon for seats.

Some air seats are around $2K.

Before starting with all new, open it up, see what is wrong.

Probably find it built with standard off the shelf parts like plastic lines, cylinder with common seals, an
air pump of some kind...

Get a hose and gauge and measure the pressure at the outlet of the pump. Then reconnect the pump and go to the hose/seat bladder connection and recheck pressure. If that checks good, reduce the outlet pressure on you air compressor and using it at the compressor output hose, see if it pumps up the seat and how much pressure it takes. The bladder is pretty bullet proof. The seat may be binding somewhere. A seal leak at the release button on the seat could be suspect also.

If it is like some truck seats, they have a leveling valve to let the seat back down when you get off from it. This gives a preset height. The little accordion like bladder that is connected to the leveling valve for that gets a crack or hole in it and then your seat will not hole ride height . IT will also not always lift with air as you will hear it leaking. Other wise I would suspect either a bad air bag/spring or a bag air line. If an electrical connection is bad they will not pump air either. So pull the seat out and hook to your air compressor with an electrical tester see if you have juice to the air pump in the tractor and if you have leaks and on what. You can probably buy air seats or parts from truck junkyards cheaper than tractor dealers just because of the difference in volume. More selection also.

Here is the JD online parts book page to the ..Seat
section.. there are several options for seats in those d
tractors so make sure you are looking at the right one.
Not many cheap parts. You will need to select a dealer
near you when you put a part in the cart, it will then
show you prices of the parts in the parts list. You may
try to find out what a replacement from a company
named Shoup costs. I would really just suggest you
bite the bullet and fix whatever is wrong with the JD
seat. Probably be hard to find one that will ride as
good as it does when it is working.
