Looking for help with mower repair and I'm
locked out. Is this legit? They've
anticipated me to call the number for
support to walk me through

Restart the machine, run a disc clean up and a history erase should clean up minor problems.
If it freezes up again, turn it off again, restart it and keep pushing F2 to go into the safe start mode.

Microsoft won't tell you that you need support. Microsoft won't reach out to you to help you.

I'm pretty sure you've fallen victim to ransomware. Hope you made a good backup recently.

It is a SCAM with capital letters! If you call them, they will want you to load a program (most commonly AnyDesk) to give them control of your computer so they can ''fix'' it. They will try to charge you for ''repairing'' your computer - commonly $500.

While they control your computer, they will be snooping through your personal data, and probably downloading the contents of your hard drive in order to get your financial information and passwords.

If you reboot, you can run system restore to get rid of the problem, then you can run a program like Malware Bytes to get rid of the scam software.

My wife got home, and she informed me we have geek squad service from BestBuy store. So I called them and they are running a clean up and repair, it's all no cost.

Something hacked my Lenovo chromebook and froze it up.
It said don't turn the computer off, call 800=====
I turned it off and restarted it. All was good.
Someone told me Linux operating systems are safer than MS.
I'm no computer expert.

Must be going around every where. I got it last week too. Turned laptop off. Turned back on after a while. Restarted and all was ok. Wingnut

My wife's computer gets that occasionally. It's a pure scam.

I just push the 'Off' button for 7 seconds until the unit shuts down and then restart it and it's gone.

It happens about once a week.

I got one a while back, flashing red screen, and would not go away!

I had to do a 'system reset', go back in time to before it happened. That fixed it. Had to look up how to do it on another computer.

Wish there was a real life reset feature!

Geek Squadd is GOOD. Bought my PC from Best Buy in 2015 and got 'Web-Root' anti virus at no charge. They installed it. I was losing internet connection multiple times a day and at the store, they said 'you have Geek Squad as part of your plan and it's FREE'. He came yesterday and was here two hours tweaking my system AND got me an actual account with Web-Root. He asked if Best-Buy had installed it and I said yes; that's why I never had an accout. Now, both our Cell-Phones are protected, which I was unable to do in the past. He even got our Wi-Fi booster working properly; he believes that was our problem all the time. So far, it's working fine.
