Gas transfer pump

I am 78 years old. Five and a half gallons is much heaver than it used to be. Can someone recommend a transfer pump from a five gallon container on the ground to the gas tank of my old tractor.? Hand operated or 12 volt. either one will work. thank you

Would not do 12v or 120v for 5 gallon movement. Sparks result in fire. Maybe for 100 gallon where tank is
stable and enclosed to liquid and longer hose.

Look up DeWay and Terapump fuel transfer pumps.
Both run on 4AA batteries (250 gallons)
But the length of the hose might not fit your needs.

Many screw right onto the standard plastic fuel cans.

On the hose length....
Might have to set the can on a stool or table height stand or maybe an empty 55gal barrel.

79 here. Been using a Terapump for about a year now. No problems, reaches from the 5 gal. can on the ground to the tank on my 860. Usually have
the can in the bed of my Mule though.

I too am 75 way to old to hoist gas cans. few years ago I started using 6 gallon OMC ( Evenrude) gas cans for transport. I fill them on tailgate so I do not have to lift the weight. The marine tanks have a quick connect for the hose and in the line a primer bulb. I bought an inline 12 volt fuel pump (ebay) I wired it with a dead man switch (monetary contact NO) push button switch with battery clips. So now you have a 1/4 inch hose with a 12 volt pump and what ever length you want, quick connect on one end . I pull tractor up to tailgate and just pump into tractor. After using this way I ended up cutimg the quick connector off and just inserting into the gas can, works OK but slow. If I need to move 6 gallon tanks I just use a hand truck. Works for me, email open if you want more info. joe

Here's the handy little bugger that I got. 11.99 at harbor freight. I did add hose to it. Takes 2 d cell batteries.

I haul my diesel in 5 gallon jugs, but then I pour 2 gallons in a smaller jug to put it in the tractor. We
don't burn over 40-50 gallons a summer, I can deal with that. I used to have a nice hand pump in a 15
gallon barrel, I sold it. I use a fine screen funnel when pouring fuel.

I am just about to turn 79 and I got rid of my 5 gallon cans years ago and only have 2 gallon cans now. Easiest soultion for weight in cans.

Many of the 12 volt pumps (terapump) say not for gasoline. I use mine for just diesel and carefully hang it up so the fuel drains out
of it. Read the package and keep it dry.

Well that goes for the 120vac versions also.

Gotta due your research for sure.

78 here. Good discussion. I've been putting only 3.5 gallons in each can but that results in too many trips. I like the Terapump
idea....straight from the bed of the truck in to the tractor. Will the terra pump push liquid 10 feet? Also have both gas and diesel
tractors...can I use one pump...well drained... for both? Thanks for ideas.

Thanks folks, good ideas. I think I will have a fuel day. Go get multiple 5 gallon containers in the pickup...with my Kroger discount....
Then drive each critter (tractor, ztr mower etc) past the pickup and refill the tank using the 12v pump you helped me find. I was beginning
to hate refill days....maybe not so much now. Thanks again for the ideas.
