I fail to understand what is going on and where to look next
Tractor was running fine. brought it into the shop and changed the oil and oil filter, now the engine is stuck. Can anything other than stuck pistons be the reason. Cannot turn the engine over with one rear wheel jacked up and the plugs removed and in 3rd gear on my 2n. Did nothing else other than a simple oil change.

Starter drive may be jammed into flywheel

loosen the starter bolts and wiggle it. Jim

On a 2N one has to be very careful doing that due the the fact the mounting bolts are also the ones that hold the start together

The problem indeed was bad starter. Forgot about Murphys Law
Anyway going to get a new starter. The old one that has been there since 1945 bit the dust.

Why not fix it? They are quite simple and probably just needs a new drive.

Next time it does this put the transmission in high gear and rock the tractor back and forth by hand, with the ignition off of course. A small twitch of the flywheel is all it takes to pop it loose.
