Compass premium tractor hydraulic fluid

I use a compatible oil from a distributor bought by the barrel. All oil is bought by the barrel for engines and Hydraulic transmission oil.

(quoted from post at 12:12:58 07/10/22) Anyone using this in your later model tractors?

Where do you get this? Is this a UK product? That is the Compass I find. I guess there are a couple questions you need to answer. What manufacturer's (JD, Case, NH, etc.) specs does it say it meets? What tractor and what reservoir are you looking at using it in. Do you have a product data sheet for it?

This hydraulic oil is produced in the U K.

It lists several types of tractors and industrial equipment
on can. Its hard to know sometimes because hydraulic
oil is not specd out like motor oil.

Forget to mention that I purchased at a local family owned farm store. It meets Kubota requirements so Im good with it.

There is hydraulic oil, then there is the universal transmission hydraulic fluid (UTHF) which is for uses with things like wet clutches and brakes. I expect you got a UTHF, not a plain hydraulic oil. The important thing is that it meets the manufacturer's requirements for your tractor.

What oil to use is a very personal decision.

There hasn't been any scientific long term testing done to determine how the hundreds of different oils perform in various machines, or how mixing any of the hundreds of different oils will work out in the long term.

Such testing would result in even the smallest tractors costing $1,000,000 each or more.

What you will get are one-off anecdotal evidence, "I used Brand X oil in my Brand Y Model Z tractor, and don't have any problems."

If you can't stomach the cost of the "right" oil and can sleep at night using something cheaper, by all means go for it. Let us know how it works out. I'm sure you've heard all the catchphrases and platitudes about not using the "right" oil by now. You know the deal.

This is not what I consider a Cut Rate oil. The local farm store has a reputation for selling only high end products.
