Fuel pump sort of

I have a 20 hp Honda on one terramite.
The bottom of the fuel tank is about 2 ft below the carb which next to the carb is the vacuum operation fuel pump.

I tractor has been running it will start normal.

If it sits for a week it takes a lot of cranking before fuel gets to carb. Then all is good.

So I decided to try using a primer bulb used in boats.

Seems to work Ok.

A cheap fix.

Bought off Amazon. 2 day shipping.

George, I did EXACTLY the same thing on my Golf Cart. If it sits a long time the carb runs dry and it takes a long time for the vacuum operated full pump to fill the carb HOWEVER a few squeezes on the hand primer and it starts right away saving the battery and starter cranking time.

Great minds think alike orrrrrrrrr even a blind squirrel finds a nut now n then ??

George, do you turn the key on before you prime the carb? My terramite has an electric solenoid that turns the fuel flow off when the key is off.

My old (2007) Yamaha Rhino acted like that/ It has a small daphrm/Vac furl pump. I cred the problem bt keeping the fuel tank no less than 1/2 full.

A terramite T5C has the gas tank above the carb. It has a solenoid.
A terramite T5D has the gas tank below the carb. It has no solenoid. I added the primer bulb to my T5D.

It is going to be interesting to see how well that thing takes the heat next to that hot air cooled engine and I am picturing the engine in the Terramite as being some what enclosed like a skid steer. That bulb is generally up inside a boat away from a lot of heat. Do not want you to burn up one of your babies. Kind of unlikely, probably your first indication of a problem will be when you go to start it and give it a squeeze and it cracks to pieces giving you a hand full of gas instead of egg whites.

Actually the red cover is where the cool air is being blown to cool the engine cylinders...

The gas line has been close to the red cover forever..

I will keep an eye on the bulb temp...

I may be one of the few on YT that will never be without a terramite. One at each property..

I'm too old for manual work.. The terramite is very handy to have around.
