I have a 8N Ford tractor 1949 I went to change the antifreeze and it's cut the plastic drain plug I tried to replace it I can't buy it nowhere why does it have a plastic drain plug thanks.

sorry I was wondering why my antifreeze plug is plastic on my 8n Ford tractor, would it be ok if I put the metal plug instead. BECAUSE it leaks

I assume it's in an aftermarket radiator?

Anyone's guess what thread or type plug they used.

Good chance the thread is metric though. If it's a taper thread should be
able to find a British taper pipe plug.

If it's a gasketed plug, try to identify the thread. Possibly it is a
standard metric bolt thread.

Main thing is to not damage the threaded hole by trying to force the wrong
thread into it.

If you can get an idea what size it is, or get the damaged plug out, you
might find a radiator shop, see if they have an idea, or maybe a cooperative
auto salvage yard would let you try to find one.

If it's a standard metric bolt thread maybe a short bolt with a gasket.

If it is a new radiator, wonder if they came with plastic plugs in the holes just to keep them free of paint. Should have been removed and a tap fitted when the radiator was replaced.
