Ford 4000 (pre 1965) (or 801, 901) Gearbox

Next question :)

My Ford 4000 has the hi / low range Sherman transmission add on.
I can select hi and low but not standard. I discovered the in / out movement shown on the shift diagram but I'm not sure it's moved enough (and isn't moving back as shown to engage std).

I'm assuming it's slightly rusty and want to use the hammer but would like to have confidence the lever is in the right position.

How far does the lever come out?

It should go up after you pull it out to the side. But you may need to let the clutch out and back in to line things up to do so or if it hasn't been used in a long time it maybe stuck. Also one thing that doesn't help is if it is low on oil so you need to check the oil lever in your transmission

It worked!!!
My mower will be very happy to get 540 rpm at last.
Nothing is more confusing that the Ford gate pattern and the hi, low, std box (and coming off a Massey 165 where 1st gear means "very, very slow indeed")....

Thanks everybody.
