have a cummins 4bt motor in a white americon 60 tractor, replaced belt today with new one. when started up the belt rides up on fan pully.is this caused by the belt tensioner, or the fan being off. neither one seems to be loose? im afraid thats what happened to the last one,as it was coming apart on the edge.

hat was a known issue on my 05 Dodge/Cummins.

Hross I would guess tensioner. I replaced belt and tensioner on a Case 580 E backhoe that has the Cummins 3.9 a few years ago. What color and year is your American 60? Mine is green and white ordered in March of 1989 and delivered in July of 1989.

It's a red 60, weird cause it doesn't have a 3 spd. Also have silver 80, green 60, and just bought green 80 fwd. Green 60 will turn yellow if time doesn't run out

Hross saw a red one up at MacFaddens in Sharo Springs N.Y. around springtime. Werent only a few painted red? If you didnt know there is a White American owners Facebook page.

Usually the tensioner is worn where it pivots against its spring and this kicks it out sideways enough to cause the belt to run off center. Mark.
