Farmall BN running rough

Looking for advice; my '44 BN starts and runs great for 30-40 minutes then starts mis-firing. Never completely quits but runs like its only firing on two cylinders. Also, hard to restart. 6volt system. I mainly use it to cultivate the gardens.

Pulled the plugs; they are all sooty and maybe gapped to narrow. What should the gap be? Could the plugs be bad?
Cleaned the points and rotor button.
Fuel in the bowl.

Problem persists.
Thanks for any helpful ideas. Michael.

The plugs gap at .020-.025 for battery ignition.

Points set .020 battery ignition. Check the points gap carefully, check the distributor shaft for side play. If it's loose the points will not stay set.

Try loosening the gas cap, the vent may be clogged.

The sooty plugs could be from light use, never getting warmed up and worked, and could be a problem. Might try some hotter plugs.

I know once they start the stumbles, you want to get them fixed asapa! They play mind games with ya .
My suggestion is buy one of these cheap spark gap tester , see what it spark can jump.
My H4 magneto on the Farmall C jumped over a half inch after new coil ,core points gapped and condenser . I was told by my coach that thats a hot magneto , so if yours jumps that far aint a magneto issue. Look someplace else.
Black plugs to me is carburetor!
