County Super 6 based on the Fordson Super Major with a Ford 590E engine.
Drive for the front wheels is a prop shaft on either side from the bull pinion
shafts, advantage is that you have four wheel braking and dif lock on all four
wheels. Turning circle is a bit limited though.

One of my favourite tractors to drive, with a Rest-o-Ride seat you felt you were on
top of the world looking down that long bonnet between those big wheels. Gets a bit
damp though on a rainy day with no cab and the water thrown up by those wheels.

Second tractor is a County Super 4, exactly the same drive system but with the
standard Ford Super Major four cylinder engine.

Many, many years ago, I was working on the hydraulics of a customers Super 6, in a
shed on Snetterton air field in Norfolk, The air field had closed and the perimeter
track was turned into a race track that hosted many famous race meetings back in the
1960's. It was also used as a test track for the Lotus race team. It was just before
a big Easter race day and the farmer let out the other sheds to the visiting race
teams so I was surrounded by Ferrari, Lotus and Alfa-Romeo cars, engines and race
teams preparing for the racing. Of course, we walked round and visited with them,
they were fascinated by the Super 6 and spent a long time watching us work, as we
did with them as they worked on the cars.

That was an amazing experience, not very likely to happen for a young person today, I don't suppose.
