Looking to widen my Power King 2414 to 60 inch on center

Rear -- I'm adding a 1 foot spacer to each side -- Do you think I need to support the 1 foot extension -- possibly a 2x2 tube below the axle with an outer
bearing just inboard of the flange the wheel attaches to.

Front -- going to cut and lengthen the front axle and tie rod to give me 60 inch on center. Looking for ideas on how to make the linkage back to the
steering box.

Thoughts -- comments -- improvements ----- before I start the project

Thanks

The axles will need to be supported at the wheel end or they will break. 2X2 is small for that task, as it has both down loading and pull/push loading. 3X3 with heavy 1/4 wall. If you intend this to carry much weight, a better tactic might be to purchase a utility type tractor that will handle 60 inch spacing, and keep the powerking original. jim

Looking at pictures of that tractor can't you just flip the center disc over to get the tires/wheels out to 60 inch centers without having to cobble something up? Or am I looking at the wrong wheel set up? Other wise I think it would be cheaper and easier in the long run to just ad a tractor to the line up for this job. With only 8.5 inches of clearance you will not be cultivating much that gets very tall for to long and you will be back to hoeing anyway.

It's a tall tractor (24 rear tires) with 19 of ground clearance close to the Farmall cub & A. Dish out only gets me into the low 40 range.

I'm looking to pull a plastic mulch layer I made with it and need 60 on center to clear the 4ft plastic. It's light weight and pulls very easily. I like the 3x3 idea

Not sure the wife will allow another addition

Thanks

Don't destroy a valubable tractor with this Idea. Get a different tractor and leave the Economy Power King alone.

I think I have to agree with the others who think this isn't the best of ideas. With a lot of accurate machine work one could make axle extensions, and add a sub frame with an outboard bearing. But if it doesn't run dead on center it will add more stress to the original axles and bearings. Agree, if you need the width find a different tractor. If you are paying for the modifications on the Power King, not doing the machine work and sub frame fabrication yourself, it might not cost any more or even less to find a tractor you don't need to modify this way.
