Richard strange that you say that. young and crazy I decided I wanted to pull antique tractors. I found a 44 / 6 and thought I had found the ultimate pulling tractor. After about 4 thousand and two years I gave up and went to the standard 44 with the 4 cylinder 260 continual . Won for several years but the 6 cylinder is the most gutless thing out there. Soon as it gets below 1600 rpms it just falls flat. Been 40 year but still remember those days. I was always told that Massey put the 6 s in them because they could not get the 4 cylinders, in any advent they were not better by any means.

My old 1946 MH 101SR with the Continental 226 six cylinder was a hoss on my sawmill.
Of course that was at higher speeds.

My friend was very hard to beat on his 44-6, and that was probably a dozen events a year. But then he was the kind of guy that could beat you then take your tractor out of sight for 15 minutes, come back and put 15 feet on your best distance.
