Some of you may remember back at corn planting time I had trouble with the clutch slipping bad all of a sudden on the 1086. We just got it back from the mechanic a couple days ago. It did turn out to be a clutch job and he rebuilt the hydraulic slave cylinder while he had it. So far everything is good. He had a long wait for the parts to come in. Hopefully this repair will last a long while.

Curious about how you guys adjust your splitting stands for different height tractors with rigid stands . Do you just drill new holes or make new stands for utility type tractors. I means just one tire size would affect the height or tire inflation from one to the next and things would not line up very good. I do realize the air pressure could be adjusted to change the height some also.

We build them to suit the tractor.Do a lot of welding and fabrication in the shop so does not take long to build them.

I've seen splitting stands with trailer tongue jacks on each side to raise and lower.

The splitting stand my Dad built is even simpler. It only uses one bolt on each side and pivots on the bolts. A chain and ratchet binder is run to the front end. By lengthening and shortening the chain you adjust the height of the stand with more or less tilt.
