Difference in tires

Both tires 11L-15. Both 12 ply. Same weight rating.
Tire on left is an Agstar, on right is Cropmax.
Agstar is new (made mistake of ordering online, past the return window) Cropmax is a year old.
Couldn't find another Cropmax when I bought the Agstar. Can get one now.
For now, put the Agstar on the back of the bale wagon, and moved the rear Cropmax up front.
May wind up getting another Cropmax and selling the Agstar, or get another rim and keep it as a spare.
Don't know yet.
Fairly disgusted.

Crop Max is the old molds from Firestone. I matched several Firestone tires with Crop Max. There made overseas but made same since they use Firestone molds. China tires are measured from side of tread where American tires are measured across top of thread. Thats why they are smaller.

Wow ! I heard from dealers buy both rear tractor tires from same manufacturer . But that photo confirms the claim.

Thats putting a tremendous load on the bearings , yikes I sympathy for you . Buy a tire for the other side to level the load .

Where tires need to be matched in size, you might as well just plan to buy tires in pairs or sets. Trying to match an existing used tire is like trying to match an existing faded paint color, there will always some differences.

US changed over to that measurement system 30 years ago.

Cropmax matched up just fine with the Goodyears that were on there also.

But couldn't find another Cropmax at the time except for the highway rated tires for $90 more.

Thought an 11l-15 should be the same size tire regardless of manufacturer.

I was wrong.

That reminds me of a Cub Cadet I bought once. Pretty rough mower, but it came with one new Tractor Supply front tire. I forget the brand, but from a 'far off land'. It was much larger that the old one on the other side. So when I got it running, I stopped at Tractor Supply and got another tire, the same brand, the same size. When mounted it still lacked at least an inch being as big in diameter as the other tire. I let it sit in the sun at least a week with 30 psi in it and it the first tire was still bigger!

I guess it was what you call a 'balloon tire'.

I've got some relatively cheap 12.5 SL x15 Chinese tires that iook small and don't claim to be tubeless. I mount them tubeless and they grow in diameter and width to equal regular SL dimensions and seem to be durable.
