OT...UTV tire life

Got a Polaris 570 UTV, 4.5 years old. Bought new. Came with Carlisle 489 4 ply tires on it. Not a lot of miles, all off road, checking cows, fences and whatnot.

Tire casing is tearing where the lugs are.

I've got way older tires on my Polaris ATV. Tires are cracked, but still holding air.

Is this a Carlisle tire problem, or UTV's in general?

Not real keen on buying Carlisles again...got a UTV tire you like?

Thanks

I put a set off Amazon branded Road Guider on my 570 and they are wearing very well. I had GreenBall Grim Reaper tires on it for 4 years prior and were awesome grip offroad, but wore quickly. After multiple punctures with thorns I finally changed them out. I have Carlisle tires on a lawn tractor and they have lasted but a UTV is a tougher environment.

We have a few Kubota Rtv's and we hated the original 350 Mag OffRoad tires. We were constantly getting flats. We work them hard and needed a large load capacity. The original tires did claim a 1200# load capacity.

We have finally found Kanati Mongrel ATV tires. They are 10ply tires. They only claim 800# load capacity, but since we run them low speed and higher pressure than they rate them they have worked great. Another plus for us is that the tread is not too aggressive. We don't need mudder tires.

We will be swapping all to the Mongrels when the others wear out.

The tires on my Kawasaki mule are 12 years old, they are the original. No problems. Never looked at the brand. 900 hours on the clock.

Tire can be damaged by running them underinflated or sunlight.

Got a Polaris 550 sportsman, I think it is a 2013, bought new with Carlisle tires. Ruined one a few years ago but the others are doing OK. One Has a slow leak. I try to keep them inflated and not run them low. Used a lot like Fred does. Not at all unhappy with them.

That is strange here where I am the 350 Mag is the go to tires , what ever wears out it is replaced by the 350, no one likes Carlile around here.
