Can anyone advise me on Jd 71 planter,
Trying to find disc openers, I have a four
row planter Im restoring, and I have found
A site that has them at $150.00.
Is this typical cost or is there maybe a
Different disc that can be used on the planter.

I swear i remember there was a company making new versions of the 71... but for the life of me i cant remember who.. maybe some one here knows..

If you get back to me with the center hole diameter the bolt /rivet pattern and size I might be able to help you out. If they just bolt on with a bolt in the center and are 5/8 you could use most any newer disk on it that is the right diameter. Looking at a couple on line it looked like it has 6 bolts maybe holding a cap on. If this is correct then the newer disks would fit from much newer planters and are around $25-35 each from Deere or aftermarket. I just got 22 of them for our planter at that price this spring. SO I know the price is close. If it has bolts to hold the disand cap on the rivets in newer model discs could be knocked out and bolts uaed to keep the original look if needed. I would also need to know diameter of the discs too. Email or phone at 1 517 202 6820 will get a message to me. Mark

Looking on Tractor house there is a 71 planter in TX that has the disc set up I was talking about in my previous reply. It has a pretty good close up of it if you click on the sly glass in the lower corner after you click on the planter.
