Deere delers selling parts for other brands?

I just received my new copy of Prairie Farmer magazine and I noticed the ad on page 17. It is an ad for John Deere and it says, No matter the age or make of your equipment, the parts counter at your John Deere dealer is the one-stop shop to keep you up and running.

I then went to this web site:

https://www.deere.com/en/parts-and-service/parts/all-makes-parts/ and on that site it says, At John Deere, you get the value of choice for your replacement and maintenance parts for all makes and ages of machines at any budget..

Am I reading this right, I could go to a John Deere dealer and buy parts for some other brand?

If that is so, how long has this been?

They were doing it back in the 90s when I was still working at a JD dealer. Deere owns A&I who is an aftermarket tractor parts supplier. Those parts are stocked in both Deere parts depots and also in several A&I locations

Joe has it right! If A&I makes it, Deere sells it. A&I only makes parts that are in demand and often common to multiple models and brands. Think steering, hydraulic, hitch parts. Certainly not all the parts!

Yep jd sells the same A@I part that the local mechanic does just at almost double the price.
I buy 567 JD baler bearings and that is when I found that out. Same bearing and Manufacturing company stamped on the bearing MADE IN CHINA lol

Got a flyer from John Deere today -- not just John Deere -- Honda push mowers and Stihl chain saws and weed eaters ! What next? Roy

I put hundreds of New Departure bearings into Deere boxes I had to fold up from flat....and throwing the ND boxes in the trash...circa 1968. Left engineering day job to work second shift so that I could go to nearby Iowa State Teachers College during the day. New Departure, Timken..... Leo
