With no clear certainty. You likely have a one wire converted Delco alternator. The big stud can go to an amp meter load side (not the battery side, or directly to the battery non grounded connection at the starter motor. The blue connector like terminal is not known by me. This information is a guess based on your description of terminals. Jim

Not worth taking a chance guessing, one wrong connection could be very expensive!

If you could post a picture or some positive way to identify the alternator, we could probably figure it out.

Or take the alternator to an alternator/starter shop, ask them for a wiring diagram. It could even need an external regulator.

As for the amp meter, the battery connects to one terminal, all alone, nothing else on that terminal. Everything else goes on the other terminal, the alternator feed, the ignition, accessories, etc.

If it reads backwards, reverse the connections.

Is this similar, Early Chrysler alternator. They require an external voltage regulator. Jim

Sounds like it might be a Delco Remy 27SI or 51SI, type 200. I have run across them on some trucks and heavy equipment, including Case. It's been years since I have dealt with one so had to dig out my old Motor's manual to confirm the model. Those have a square plug you can pop out and turn. Every 90 degrees gives a different voltage setting to the internal regulator. It should be a one wire hook up. The small pin terminal is not connected to anything. It should have a tab in one of the end frame holes to use for grounding to the end frame to test full output
