What a difference a year makes

Last April 15 many farmers in my hood were planting corn.
I think the frost date in Indiana is April 20.
It's been too cold for my plants to grow in my hot box.

Very few weeds are growing in the tilled garden.

Weather guessers are showing some nights in the 30s.

When did you plant corn last year and when are you going to plant this year?

Usually here in south central Kansas any seeds can be (don't have to be) in the ground by 3rd week of April. Plants like tomatoes and peppers can be out first week of May.

Two years ago the corn was up around here. A small amount has been planted on the bottoms last week.

May 4th last year.....just a bit of primary tillage on some ground we had tile drained last fall....pretty cold spring thus far, even the daffodils are slow coming up.

Tiled ground might be dry enough to drive over but the heavy ground is to wet yet. Some of the sand might be dry enough to chisel headlands. No real work being done here yet. Can now see the tile lines in some fields.
