Flies on calves

I got some feeder calves and i was wondering what is the best way to keep flies off the face of the calves this summer?

Feed them garlic.

Neighbor's feed to fats. He has some poor-on stuff that works real well.

I buy a spray you can buy and mix up, and then spray on with a hand sprayer. Good for a multitude of things, flys, mites, lice, etc. .

I don't like fly tags. Kind of only good for face flys.

Cattle don't like sulfer. I think sulfer blocks do make a little difference, but cattle will reduce salt intake by about 1/2 on those. Not sure that's a good thing.

I've never tried the garlic thing.
