Hessian Fly damage on wheat

Son and I went to look at a friend's wheat.
I said it looks looks Hessian Fly damage.
Earliest you can plant here and avoid Hessian Fly damage is Nov. 15.
He said he planted this before the middle of Oct.
Some of the leaf damage is from lots of high winds we have had.

Ignore my damaged thumbnail in the photo.

I did research on wheat at Clemson and we got to where we never planted before Nov 15, especially in the low state area.

In Michigan here, it was in September but I don't remember for sure the date. I think it was the 18th. That was years ago when I was in ag at high school. I haven't grew wheat since.
