Tire machine

I have a tire machine that does the job, but is very hard to use. To brake the bead the tire has to be placed under the machine. The an air cylinder arm comes down to push the bead down, then flip the tire over and do the same. Next place it on the top of the machine, using a bar to pry the tire off. Usually done in 90 degree heat. I saw a listing for a Coats 10 10 tire machine for 125.00. It is now at my shop. Just place the tire on top of the machine, using the foot pedal it brakes the bead on both sides. Then it bars the tire off. The same bar rolls the bead back on. So much easier for this old guy. Wish I had this 40 years ago. Stan

hat's a good price if it works. I cut my teeth on a 10-10 back in 68.

It seams to work ok. I put a stiff rusted 15 inch truck tire on it. It took a couple times to break the tire loose. It rolled of fine. Now I have no
excuse to not install the other two 16 inch tires on my Dodge rear axle. Stan

the one i used in the 70's was a coats 20-20. didnt take me long to whip on a set of tires for the customer. i really liked that machine.

55 years ago I worked my way through college working at a gas station changing tires for a buck an hour...
The tire changer we used sounds like the one you just bought..

I'm lazy and cheap..
The tire barn sells road hazard, free tire repair, rotation and balancing.
I don't have a tire balancer so a tire changer would do me very little value. $25 for tire repair, lawn mower tires or big tractor tires $25 to patch tube. I can't pick up a tractor tire.
Have to use mower ramps and roll it into the truck bed.

I have used the outrigger on the backhoe to break a lawn mower bead.

Sounds allot better than my HF 39.95 tire changer. It usually gets the job done but gives me a good workout doing so.

The first machine you described is what I learned on at my dad's service station, must have been about 8-10 years old. I had to have help lifting the wheel up onto the machine! LOL

In fact, it is the only tire machine I have ever used. Wish I had kept it!

My first job was at gas station that had a 10 10'
Then I went to a JC Penneys auto center that had a 20 20.
Man I thought I was in high cotton using that machine.

I had one and after it cost me a sholder rotator cuff repair never tried using it again.

I had one of those for a short time. Very short.

Then I got an old well used Coats 20-20 that works very well for me.

The manual one got cut up and used for various things, braces, etc. A buddy wanted to buy it. I refused to sell it to him and told him he would thank me later. He bought a new one and after he used it for a while he told me I was right.
